U.S. Embassy in Venezuela Issuing Red Alert for Americans at Risk From Roving Pro-Maduro ‘Militias’ – RedState

Amid the lingering aftermath of unrest in Venezuela after U.S. military special forces toppled dictator Nicolas Maduro in early January, we received a red alert on Saturday for all Americans remaining in that country from U.S. officials.
The U.S. Embassy in Caracas is warning people to leave Venezuela immediately. In other words: get the hell out of there:

The security alert highlights that roving bands of armed pro-Maduro militias are setting up roadblocks and searching vehicles in hopes of arresting anyone linked to or sympathetic to the United States:
“US citizens in Venezuela should leave the country immediately,” the embassy said in a Jan. 10 security alert.
The warning cited reports of armed groups operating on Venezuelan roads.
“There are reports of armed militia groups, known as ‘colectivos,’ setting up roadblocks and searching vehicles for evidence of U.S. citizenship or support for the United States,” the U.S. Embassy in Caracas said.
The embassy statement added that “[a]”International flights have resumed, U.S. citizens in Venezuela should leave the country immediately.” He also reminded Americans that there is no one from the State Department in the country to “provide emergency services” to them:
“In March 2019, the U.S. Department of State withdrew all diplomatic personnel from the U.S. Embassy in Caracas and suspended its operations. The U.S. government continues to be unable to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in Venezuela.”

It’s worth noting that the State Department has already issued its highest level of alert, warning Americans not to travel to the South American country:
These risks include “wrongful detention, torture in custody, terrorism, kidnapping, arbitrary enforcement of local laws, crime, civil unrest, and poor health infrastructure,” according to the State Department.
Today, something has gone unnoticed in the days since the U.S. strike in Venezuela and the expulsion of the country’s former strongman, Maduro, and his wife, but I think people will appreciate seeing that no American is safe from flight restrictions caused by dangerous world events, not even Oscar-winning actors like Leonardo DiCaprio.
Entertainment industry publication Deadline reported on the celebrity’s “unexpected travel disruptions”:
Leonardo DiCaprio, who is set to receive the 2026 Palm Springs Film Festival’s Desert Palm Achievement Award for his role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, will be forced to miss the event due to air restrictions resulting from the U.S. attack on Venezuela.
…
(DiCaprio was vacationing off the coast of St. Barthélemy with Jeff Bezos and his wife Lauren Sánchez during the New Year’s festivities.)
A statement from festival organizers lamented the inconvenience caused to the star: “Leonardo DiCaprio is unable to join us in person this evening due to unexpected travel disruptions and restricted airspace.”
It’s a shame, isn’t it, dear readers?
