Google lays off dozens of workers as tech giants prepare for AI advances
Google said it was planning to fire dozens of workers in its Sunnyvale offices, following job discounts in other large technological companies.
Google informed the Californian employment development service on Monday, which he will dismiss 50 workers in Sunnyvale, according to a notice obtained by Times.
Technological companies reduce jobs in preparation for a possible recession, as well as the anticipation of efficiency from artificial intelligence, said Rob Enderle, principal analyst of the Oregon -based advisory services company, Enderle Group.
“We are preparing for a little slowdown and companies often like to reduce bad news like this so that they can keep their finances solid,” he said.
In August, Salesforce said that he had reduced 4,000 support roles due to the automation of essential assistance tasks. Other technological companies, including Intel, Microsoft and Meta, have also reduced staff while investing more in AI this year.
CNBC reported on Wednesday that Google has launched more than 100 people in design -related roles in its cloud division.
In the notice of Google which he filed with the State, the jobs affected by the cuts included roles in the user experience, software engineers and business programs managers. The dismissals of the cloud division were reported for the first time by Business Insider.
“The AI is good enough to code right now and everything that has to do with design … As long as someone can describe what they want, which considerably increases the productivity of people you have in the design,” said Enderle. “Unless you increase the workload just as radically, you will have too many people.”
Google, which is based on Mountain View, did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
