Irish rap group Kneecap cancels U.S. tour dates due to court battle over terrorism charge

The Irish rap group Knecap has canceled all its upcoming tour in the United States due to a time conflict with the group’s audience date in London for a terrorism accusation.
Knecap announced that the news on Monday in an article on social networks, saying that its 15 October programs in the United States were to be chopped “while the British government continues its witch hunt”.
“With each completely exhausted program, tens of thousands of fans, this news is sad to deliver,” wrote Knecap. “But once we have won our judicial affair, which we are going, we promise to embark on an even larger tour for all your big heads.”
Refunds are available for those who had tickets for the shows, said the group.
Kneceecap was found in difficulty in May, after the London police accused Liam O’hanna, 27, of having violated part of British law on terrorism which prohibits people from displaying flags “in such a way or in circumstances such as to arouse reasonable that it is a supporter” of the groups that the country considers the terrorists.
Metropolitan police said at the time that they launched an investigation into O’hanna – whose name in Irish is Liam óg óg ó Hannaidh and which occurs as Mo Chara in the hip -hop trio – after seeing an online video of the singer displaying the Hezbollah flag in a place north of London on November 21.
Hezbollah has been appointed a terrorist organization by the United States, the United Kingdom and other countries about its militant activities and its links with Iran. The group is considered a Shiite political party and a militant organization based in Lebanon.
The ball joint in April occurred in Coachella in front of a screen featuring the words “F — Israel, free Palestine”. This example did not give criminal accusations in the United States, but prompted the festival organizers to censor the live broadcast of the group’s performance, the group said in a post on X at the time.
The ball joint characterized the criticism of its opinions on the War of Israel in Gaza as a “coordinated smear campaign”
“Those who attack us want to silence the criticisms of a mass massacre,” Kneceecap said in a statement in April. “They armed the false charges of anti -Semitism to distract, confuse and provide coverage for genocide.”
The group told its American fans to stand tight, and this good news is coming.
“We will share something very special for fans of us next week so that we can always connect with you in October,” said Lunday. “It’s top secret for the moment but everything will be revealed next week – stay attentive.”
The dates of the Canadian tour of Knecap in Vancouver and Toronto will not be affected because the group said it planned to play four closed windows.
