From the first shot of the training camp, Deshaun Foster closely controlled all the stories on his team.

Journalists did not know how much – or little – UCLA training sessions that they could watch, one day limited to eight minutes of stretching. Most of the time, they have seen individual exercises, goals in the field and – in recent weeks – an snapshot of the whole offense going against the defense.

Photography and video were prohibited, even during a practice of Rose Bowl open to spectators who have made no restrictions of this type. Foster preferred to leave publications on the social networks of the team and the series of videos produced internally are enough as the history of his team.

Late Saturday evening, the story could no longer be kept secret.

Bruins do not seem to be good.

In a clunker of an opening match of the season, they could not attack La Défense or regularly move the ball in attack behind the new quarter Nico Iamaleava.

If it is important to take the warning that it is only a match, the defeat of 43-10 from the UCLA against UTAH to Rose Bowl represented a giant step back after the Bruins closed their first season under Foster with four victories in their last six games.

Eleven NFL scouts, including representatives of RAMs and chargeers, will probably not come back to look at anyone on a defense of the UCLA which missed a series of plates and has managed to put a semblance of pressure on the quarterrière Devon Dampier, whose fingerprints and imprints could be found everywhere in this match.

Dampier completed 21 of the 25 passes for 206 yards and two affected while operating for 87 yards. He essentially put the match out of reach at the end of the third quarter when he ran in the goals in fourth and goal of the two -meter line of the UCLA. Utah has found 492 infringements while converting 14 of 16 thirds.

Meanwhile, Iamaleava only appreciated a few successful pockets in his first match which executed the new scheme of the attacking coordinator Tino Sunseri. Iamaleava completed 11 of the 22 passes for 136 yards with a touchdown and an interception halfway through the fourth quarter which sent large bands of fans heading to the house. He ran for 47 yards in 13 races, proving to be the best option of his team on the field.

The UCLA runners were not as productive. Tailbacks Jalen Berger, Jaivian Thomas and Anthony Woods combined for only 37 yards, with an average of 2.5 yards per race. Large recipient Kwazi Gilmer has worsened the incapacity of his team to move the ball, dropping a pass while cutting on the field in third and four.

The pre-season secret of the UCLA appeared justified by half-time, when the UTES outcroped the Bruins on the path with an advantage of 23-7.

The incapacity of Bruins to put pressure on Dampier was the big story. Dampier had all the time that he needed to launch and run while representing 170 yards (including 78 on the ground) and completing 10 of the 13 passes. The only way to stop it seemed to be his helmet that stands out in the second trimester, which would have forced him to go out for a room if the Utes had not called a dead time to be able to come back.

UTAH converted its first six third setbacks attempts, including a third and four, which Wayshawn Parker fought for a touch of 13 yards and a third and three in which the UCLA security key, Lawrence, has missed a potential tackle for loss, allowing Smith Snowden to run for a touch of eight yards.

Everything was tilted in favor of the UTES when Dampier found the second – you read – Lander Barton in the goals area for a touch of 13 yards. Utah led 20-0 and it was just to wonder if the UCLA could mount a sustained reader.

Iamaleava responded categorically, showing some slippery movements on a 21 yards race and later finishing a pass of 21 yards to run Anthony Woods on a wheel road which finally put the Bruins on the plateau in the middle of the second quarter.

There would not be many positive points for the UCLA the rest of the path.
