Ultrahuman’s new Pro ring comes with 15 days battery life

If there’s one thing that keeps people from using their smart rings long term, it’s battery life. After all, they’re so discreet that it’s easy to forget to put them on the charging pad every few days. It doesn’t take long for your expensive gadget to become little more than a very expensive piece of jewelry. This is one of the many illnesses that Ultrahuman seeks to solve with the advent of its new Pro, a smart ring offering up to 15 days of battery life. It even comes with a fancy battery case, which itself holds enough power to last 45 days, making it easy to recharge on the go.
Ultrahuman Ring Pro not only has a much bigger battery, it’s been redesigned from the ground up. The company’s Bhuvan Srinivasan said the old hardware had been pushed to its limits, particularly in terms of the data it could process. Therefore, the Pro is equipped with a dual-core processor with on-device machine learning to better understand the numbers your body is throwing around. Its memory has also been increased, holding up to 250 days of data before needing to sync with your smartphone. In addition to improving durability, the new ring is also easier to cut in the hopefully rare event that your finger, or its battery, begins to swell.

I admit, after seeing a Pro Charger prototype in person in January, that it’s the prettiest way to regenerate a smart ring I’ve ever seen. While Samsung and Oura both opted for discreet ring-box hardware, Ultrahuman created something designed to sit on your nightstand. It also doesn’t take up space just for show, since it includes the aforementioned battery, LED charging indicator, speaker, and haptics. It also has the ability to diagnose and fix firmware issues to eliminate worries related to firmware issues affecting devices.

At the same time, Ultrahuman unveils Jade, its new “real-time biointelligence AI”. The company promises that Jade will be able to “obtain actionable insights in real time, and even start breathing or trigger Afib detection.” Jade should get new features over time, such as ordering things correctly, changing the temperature in your room, or reporting potential health issues. The idea is that Jade will keep constant tabs on your health, pulling data from the ring, the M1 continuous glucose monitor, and environmental statistics from your ultrahuman home.
Naturally, we’ll be testing the Pro and will give our thoughts on how effective it all is after we’ve spent a month or two actually using it. But if you’d rather not wait and live outside the US, you can pre-order the Ultrahuman Ring Pro now, for $479, with shipping starting in March. If you already own an Ultrahuman Ring, you can also benefit from a trade-in deal to help reduce the cost of the new model.
