Under Trump’s DOJ threat, we’re standing our ground—with your help

Thursday, I wrote the Last story I always want to write – about how we are now threatened with this fascist diet with thin skin.

We are faced with an action by the Ministry of Justice. I carefully choose these words. Nothing has yet been officially deposited, but when part of this government – under the command of Donald Trump – made a gesture, it’s serious. This Doj has abandoned any pretension to go after real criminals (Trump forgives them) and now focuses squarely on silence his enemies.

This includes people like us – those who have spent more than two decades telling the truth and building a platform so that you can retaliate.

Because it has never been on me. Or even daily kos. This is what we have built together in the past 23 years: a space to fight for democracy, for decency, for a government that serves people – not the authorities. And just as important, it has become a community– A place where people who care about these things can find each other, lift each other and know that they are not alone in this fight.

What you gave on Thursday was not only a financial support – it was a reminder of the depth that we are connected. That when one of us is threatened, the rest of us arises. That we have the back of the other. I become emotional by typing this. (Who I joke? I was an emotional wreck writing this entire piece.)

This is proof that this community is strong. How kind it is. And that he is ready to stand together, whatever happens.
