Russia Ukraine war: Trump hosts Zelenskyy at Mar-a-Lago for peace talks

President Donald Trump will host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday in the latest effort to end four years of war.
Zelensky will meet with Trump in Florida, at the presidential estate Mar-a-Lago, where he spent much of his time on vacation. The Ukrainian leader stressed the need to negotiate from a position of strength in a public statement issued before their meeting.
Russian and Ukrainian negotiations have repeatedly broken down over the question of where final territorial lines would lie in a peace deal.
“Ukraine is ready to do whatever it takes to end this war,” Zelenskyy wrote on

“In this war of Russia against Ukraine, we want peace, and Russia demonstrates its desire to continue the war. If the whole world – Europe and America – is on our side, together we will stop Putin. Because together we all want the same thing: the end of the war, peace – a normal peace, a lasting peace, safe for the whole world,” he continued.
“If anyone – be it the United States or Europe – sides with Russia, it means that the war will continue. There are no other options here. And this is a risk for all countries in the world. Because Russia will not stop, regardless of the agreements, receiving eloquent messages from it. It will not stop at Ukraine,” Zelensky warned.

Zelensky’s statement came after Russia redoubled its attacks on kyiv, launching a nighttime attack on Saturday involving hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles. Zelenskyy said the attack exposed the “true attitude” of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his entourage.

The nighttime blitz in the Ukrainian capital left at least one dead and 27 injured, local authorities told The Associated Press.
Trump, before his meeting with Zelensky, said he would do so. make the final decisions on a peace agreement to end the conflict.
