US border agent who led immigration crackdown in LA arrives in Chicago | Chicago

The agent of the border patrol who led the repression of immigration which sparked generalized demonstrations in Los Angeles announced on Tuesday in a social media position that he arrived in Chicago.
“Well, Chicago, we arrived!” Gregory Bovino declared in an article on X which included images of the vehicles and agents of American immigration and customs (ICE) under the street panels and the views of the city center of Chicago. “The operation as a whole is there to continue the mission we started in Los Angeles.”
Donald Trump has promised for weeks that Chicago would see an increase in deportations and troops of the National Guard on the fierce of the objections of local leaders and residents.
Immigration defenders in Chicago said they had noticed an increase in immigration application agents in recent days while Trump targets democratic bastions. However, Trump was visible to send a military deployment to Chicago.
Neither the orientation nor the size of the border patrol operation that Bovino referenced in his message on Tuesday was immediately clear. The officials did not answer questions Tuesday on the scope of the application of immigration to Chicago.
The increased application of the past few days has deepened the fear of chicago’s already scary immigrant communities, leading to the cancellation and delay of certain celebrations for Mexican independence day, which was on Tuesday.
“The chef’s chef and the CBP play a key support role in our targeted application operations,” said Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Security, Tricia McLaughlin, in a press release.
Internal security secretary Kristi Noem posted on X that she was also in Chicago “to specify that we are not going back”.
“Our work is just beginning,” she said.
In Los Angeles, Bovino’s “Turn and Burn” operation has described by Bovino led to thousands of arrests. The agents broke the car windows, opened a door to a house and patrolled MacArthur Park on horseback.
Illinois Democratic Governor JB Pritzker, who opposed any federal intervention, told journalists on Monday that he was clear that immigration operations had accelerated around Chicago.
“The ice has gathered its agents,” he said.
