NY Times Apparently Doesn’t Even Know What NATO Is in Pathetic Gaslighting Effort – RedState

The New York Times is the Bible of liberal America, once a proud standard of journalistic excellence that has unfortunately become the mouthpiece of the progressive movement and all things far left.
This has been a depressing decline to see, because I remember vividly as a child that the official newspaper was delivered to our New York apartment every day, and the smell of the newspaper was like ambrosia.
It was the truthwe believed, being dropped off at our door every morning.
Today, of course, we know that they are biased, cynical and not afraid to distort the truth. What’s scary about this story, however, is not that they lost the plot a long time ago, which all conservatives already know, but how many people on the left still get most of their news from Slimes and equally corrupt media outlets like CNN.
They showed their true colors once again on Wednesday. It wasn’t an April Fool’s joke, however. Don’t they even know what NATO is?

NATO, of course, doesn’t include the word “America” – it’s the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and it was established in 1947 with Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom and the United States as founding members.
The goal was to form a bloc to counter the growing threat from the Soviet Union, which collapsed in 1991 but still poses an existential threat in Vladimir Putin’s Russian Federation today.
As we have reported, the alliance has proven to be on shaky ground at best, given that our so-called “allies” are nowhere to be found in this time of need:
Bueller…Bueller? Trump and Rubio confirm: NATO is done
Is NATO still worth America’s blood and treasure?
However, to account for NATO, we would undoubtedly need to know what it really represents. East. Apparently the New York Times doesn’t:
A correction will appear in tomorrow’s print edition:
“The headline of an article published Friday about President Trump’s threats to leave NATO misstated the full name of the body. It is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, not the North American Treaty Organization.”-NYTimes Communications (@NYTimesPR) April 3, 2026
Here’s the truth: Writers, especially conservative-leaning ones — knowing that there are highly funded outlets like Media Matters that drool at the thought of embarrassing us — fear being wrong. AI videos, for example, make it increasingly difficult to distinguish between what is fake and what is real.
That’s why at RedState we have multiple fact-checkers and editors, and when a commenter points out something that may not be 100% accurate, we take it seriously and do everything we can to bring you correct information.
But not even knowing what NATO is? It’s honestly incredible. It would just be another story of “Ha ha, look at these losers,” but like I said, outlets like the Times and CNN still occupy a prominent place in the free space of Democrats and liberals. If they say it, it’s true; too many people still believe this is the gospel.
And yet, apparently, their brains couldn’t even pass a basic high school history class. This is utterly pathetic, and it is dangerous misinformation like this that has spawned the socialist-progressive virus that has infected too many voters and leaders in our society.
I wish it was unique, but it’s not.
Our mainstream media has been complicit in leading America down a dark path, and the once vaunted New York Times is at the top of the list of complicit actors.
