Puyallup police are investigating a death after a body was found in the lake at Bradley Lake Park, and it may be linked to a missing person case, the Puyallup Police Department said.

Central Pierce officers and firefighters are on scene as the investigation continues.

Police said there was no danger to the public.

The park was temporarily closed while responders finished their work.

Police said a body was found in the lake and may have been there for some time. It was spotted floating about 25 feet from the bank.

Puyallup police said the body found was that of a woman.

“Central Pierce Fire personnel went into the lake and pulled the deceased out,” said Deputy Chief Greg Massey of the Puyallup Police Department. “She was a white woman, she must have been maybe in her fifties.”

Massey said it’s not yet known how long she was in the lake or whether foul play was involved.

Detectives are working to confirm if the found body is connected to the missing person case reported by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office last month.

This person is Ginger Meier, 60 years old. She was last seen on January 11 in the Bradley Lake Park area.

The medical examiner will work to identify the victim and the cause of death.

“The next steps for our detectives will be to work with Pierce County Sheriff’s Office detectives regarding their missing person,” Massey said. “Our detectives will conduct the death investigation to determine cause of death, identity and go from there.”

No matter who the woman found in the lake is, Massey just hopes to bring closure to her loved ones.

“Unfortunately, it’s not always a happy ending,” he said.
