USDA issues public alert for Trader Joe’s frozen pizza


The USDA Food and Inspection Safety Service (FSIS) issues a public health alert for a non -recent frozen pizza product imported from Italy which has not received the benefit of the import rewind.
A reminder has not been requested because the product is no longer available for purchase, but consumers can always have the product in their freezers.
The following product is subject to public health alert:
- 17.63-OZ. Packages of cardboard boxes containing “Trader Joe’s Uncured Pepperoni Pizza Product of Italy” with “Lot MFG: 06/16/25 Best by: 08/16/26” or “Lot MFG: 06/21/25 Best on 08/21/26” printed on the bottom of the package.
The product bears the establishment number in Italy “IT 1558 the EU” printed inside the Italian inspection brand located at the front of the packaging.
This item was sent to retail sites in California.
The problem was discovered when FSIS was informed by the company of Trader Joe that the pizza product in Pepperoni not ready to eat frozen was not presented for the FSIS import rewind.
There has been no confirmed report of disease or adverse effects due to the consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a disease or reaction must contact a health care provider.
The FSIS fears that certain products will be in consumer freezers. Consumers who bought this product are invited not to consume it.
This product must be thrown or returned to the place of purchase.
