Valdez stretches winning streak to 10, Astros rally to beat Diamondbacks 3-1

Phoenix (AP) – Framber Valdez launched seven effective rounds for his 10th consecutive victory, Brice Matthews struck her third circuit in two games and the Astros of Houston rallied to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-1 Tuesday evening.

Valdez (11-4) granted a race and seven strokes to match Tarik Skubal from Detroit for the longest sequence of major victories this season.

Matthews struck his first two circuits in Houston’s 6-3 victory on Monday evening and launched a two-point shot on Jake Woodford (0-1) in the eighth. Jose Altuve scored on wild land to put Houston 3-1 in the ninth.

The start of Diamondbacks Eduardo Rodriguez held the astros in check before that, launching 6 1/3 -sleeves aimless.

Arizona has loaded the basics in the ninth, but Bryan King struck Blaze Alexander and induced Jose Herrera in a double game game for his first stop.

Valdez was clear before meeting in trouble in the sixth.
