This animation shows Perseverance’s perspective during an 807-foot (246-meter) journey along the rim of Jezero Crater on December 10, 2025, the 1,709th day or Martian sol of the mission. Captured over two hours and 35 minutes, 53 pairs of navigation camera (Navcam) images were combined with rover data on orientation, wheel speed and steering angle, as well as data from Perseverance’s inertial measurement unit, and placed in a 3D virtual environment. The result is this reconstruction with virtual images inserted approximately every 4 inches (0.1 meter) of player progress.

NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, managed for the agency by Caltech, built and manages operations of the Perseverance rover.
