‘He chose to serve’ – Thousands attend funeral for Didarul Islam

Thousands of New York police gathered to cry the death of the NYPD police officer Didarul Islam, one of the four people killed during the shooting on Monday in an office building in New York.

Islam, 36, has been shot while ensuring the safety of the site on Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.

The officials said he had migrated to the United States from Bangladesh, had two children and that he was waiting for a third with his pregnant wife. He died “a hero”, they said.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul, and New York mayor Eric Adams were also in a funeral.
