Viktor Hovland withdraws from Ryder Cup due to neck injury

Farmingdale, Ny – Viktor Hovland in Norway withdrew from his match in single Sunday during the 45th Ryder Cup with Black Bethpage with a neck injury, which means that the teams will divide the point of one of the 12 matches in single.

Hovland, who withdrew from his four -ball match on Saturday, had an MRI in a New York hospital on Saturday evening. He woke up Sunday unable to move his neck.

The Ryder Cup said Hovland had tried to warm up on Bethpage Black on Sunday, but had a limited movement.

“There is nothing more than I would like to do than represent the Europe team and try to help them win the Ryder Cup today,” said Hovland in a statement. “Not being able to do it is quite heartbreaking. I will support my team as hard as possible and root them.”

The substitution rule in the captain’s agreement forces each captain to subject the name of a player in a sealed envelope who would not play in the event of an injury to an opposing team golfer.

The captain of the American team Keegan Bradley submitted Harris English, who will now sit in simple Sunday. He had to play Hovland in the anchor match at 2:03 p.m. HE.
