“An average mattress can have thousands of mites that produce millions of excrement,” said Mohammed. She explained that these mites feed on particles such as dead skin cells, saliva, perspiration and even crumbs of capricious food.

“Many people can develop allergies to mites,” said Mohammed. “And after prolonged exposure, some people, especially those with asthma, could develop serious symptoms and complications.”

These are not only the mites with which you could share a bed. Due to the way in which the subject mattresses are subject to humidity and heat, Mohammed warned against fungi, molds, viruses and bacteria such as E. coli, STM and other serious contaminants which pose real risks for our health.
