We Can’t Afford It – RedState

The news cycle has been dominated in recent days by domestic affairs (the only big, beautiful invoice) and the Middle East (the United States and Israel reducing the Iran nuclear program to the rubble). This happens, but we remember that there is still a problem in Eastern Europe, in particular in Ukraine, where it is still time for striking and snap. The United States has helped Ukraine come out with weapons expeditions, but everyone knows that this cannot continue forever.
Tuesday, “Not Forever” raised his head. The Pentagon has examined stocks and will stop the expeditions of certain missiles and other ammunition. For what? Because we run dangerously low.
The decision was drawn by Pentagon Policy, Elbridge Colby, and was taken after an examination of the Pentagon ammunition stocks, which feared that the total number of artillery rounds, air defense missiles and precision ammunition was flowing, according to three familiar people with the problem.
The initial decision to retain promised assistance during the Biden administration occurred in early June, according to people, but only takes effect now while Ukraine is beating some of the largest Russian missile and drone dams in civilian targets in kyiv and elsewhere.
It shouldn’t be a surprise. Munition stocks do not make an abundance horn; We only have a number of each type of weapon, and undoubtedly certain numbers of the Pentagon, the crunchers look at the figures fall, looking at China in a corner of their eyes and lifting objections.
These objections have been heard.
In a statement following the publication of this story, the assistant press secretary of the White House, Anna Kelly, said that the decision “had been made to put American interests first following a DOD examination of military support and the assistance of our country to other countries around the world. The strength of the American armed forces remains indisputable – it is enough to ask Iran.”
Missiles for Air Defense Systems Patriot, precision artillery sessions, sechanges and other missiles that Ukraine launches from its F-16 fighters and drones.
These are, of course, the same ammunition that would be of vital importance if the American forces get engaged anywhere.

Now there is a great argument to make here that our inventories should not have been in danger in the first place. If a country on the planet should have substantial supplies of ammunition, it should be the United States, and we can hope that the Trump administration’s budgetary priorities for the Pentagon include strengthening our stocks. Secretary Hegseth undoubtedly understands that no nation has never lost a war because they had too many ammunition.
This can put Ukraine in an even greater affair than in which they are already:
Tom Karako, an anti -missile defense expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, said the decision highlights the vulnerability of Ukrainian forces.
“Air defense will not win a war for you-but its absence will lose a fast,” he said.
Karako underlined the budgetary documents of the army revealing a silent quadrupling of his requirement for interceptors Patriot MSE. But even with increased funding, he said, increasing production will take time.
“You can’t just return a switch,” he said.
And this inability to simply return a switch also affects our vulnerability, or its absence. The first priority is to ensure that our people have enough beans and bullets to repel any inconvenience. Nothing is more important.
