US pediatric organization diverges from CDC in Covid-19 vaccine advisory for children | US news

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) urges that children as young as six months and up to 23 months receive the COVVI -19 vaccine – a position that diverges from current federal directives given by the Trump administration health agencies.

The AAP has published its updated infant vaccination calendar, which describes the recommendations for COVVI-19, Fluency and RSV vaccines for people under the age of 18.

“It differs from the recent recommendations of the CDC vaccination practices advisory committee, which has been revised this year and replaced by people who have a history of disinformation of disinformation of vaccines,” the organization said in a statement.

The announcement follows a decision by the Secretary of Health and Social Services Robert F Kennedy JR at the end of May to stop the CDC recommendations for healthy children to receive the COVVI-19 vaccine. The CDC is currently advising that COVVI-19 vaccinations for children from six months to 17 years old should be determined by “shared clinical decision-making”.

The AAP recommends vaccination for anyone under the age of 18 who has a higher risk of serious diseases from COVID-19, lies in a long-term or reprimand care center, has not been vaccinated before or shares a household with someone at high risks.

“The Academy has made recommendations for pediatric immunization since the 1930s, which has not changed,” said Dr. Susan Kressly, president of the AAP, ABC News.

“But what has changed is that this year, we do it in the disinformation environment, which makes more important than ever than we provide clear and confident advice, because the majority of American families really depend on us for these advice.”

The AAP claims that infants and toddlers between six and 23 months face the greatest risk of serious COVID-19 results and vaccination provides protection against serious illnesses.

Even if medical groups continue to disagree with federal agencies, insurers often base the coverage of the CDC Advisory Committee on Vaccination Practices (ACIP).
