Use Google Gemini and ChatGPT to Organize Your Life With Scheduled Actions

The developers of Large generative AI chatbots continue to release new features at a rapid pace as they work to ensure their bot is the one you turn to whenever you need AI help.
One of the latest Google Gemini updates gives you the ability to configure scheduled actions. This is exactly what they look like: tasks that you can run automatically by Google Gemini, on a schedule. Maybe you want a weather report and news every morning at 7 a.m., or maybe you want an evening meal suggestion every night at 7 p.m. Anything you can already make Gemini do, you can plan it.
It brings Gemini up to speed in this regard with the ChatGPT app, which introduced scheduled tasks several months ago. The idea here is more or less the same: the bot can execute your commands at a specific time in the future and keep repeating them if you need to. Here’s how the feature works on both platforms.

As of this writing, this requires a subscription to Google’s AI service, which starts at $20 per month for Google AI Pro. The chatbot can track up to 10 planned actions at a time, so you need to be quite selective about how you use it. You can use scheduled actions in Gemini on the web and in the mobile apps for Android and iOS.
All you need to do to create a scheduled action in Gemini is describe it and include the scheduling details in the prompt. For example, you could tell Gemini to “generate an image of a cat playing with a ball of yarn every Monday at 12 p.m.” or to “ask me a general knowledge question every evening at 7 p.m.”
Scheduled actions can be set to happen only once, for example next Friday at 3 p.m., so that something happens on a specific day at a specific time. Alternatively, your actions can run on a daily, weekly, or monthly recurring basis. They cannot be set to a more complicated cadence (like every other Tuesday of the month), nor can they surprise you randomly.
Gemini needs to recognize that you asked him to plan something and will present a recap: what you asked him to do, when, and how often. Assuming all of this information is correct, you don’t need to do anything else. The action runs whether or not Gemini is open at the time, and you will be alerted to a running action through a notification on your devices (if you have them enabled) and an email.
