Florida basketball adds guard Alex Kovatchev to roster via transfer portal
Florida basketball added to its 2025-26 list with the commitment of the former Sacramento Hornets Alex Kovatchev’s Hornets via the NCAA transfer portal on Monday. With this acquisition, the last grant of the program has been completed.
The player in the 6 -foot rear area 5 inches and 190 pounds from Perth, Australia – the same city as Gators Forward / Center Alex Condon is from Down Under – appeared in 33 games (12 departures) during his first year campaign two years ago, with an average of 5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 passes per competition in 22.8 minutes per match. Last season, a leg injury limited it to only four departures, with an average of 8.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in 25.2 minutes per game before being closed.
Speaking of Condon and Kovatchev, the two hoops won a gold medal in the U20 team from Australia-Western in 2023. The first scored 24 points while entering nine rebounds, while the last one amassed 20 points and six rebounds in the championship match.
Before the last addition to the team, Todd Golden had mentioned his desire to find this last piece to the puzzle for the upcoming campaign.
“I think we have a large group at the moment, and I hope that with this last place, we will be able to find more than one type of development player, a guy who will come and will be happy to learn behind some guys,” he noted in May. “So we are not going to rush. But if it turns out to be a European actor, I would be very happy with that too.”
I assume that he will have to be satisfied with an Australian with a European name.
