What Happens When You Fold and Unfold the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 200,000 Times?

After having folded and unfolding the Samsung Galaxy Z Plé 7 200,000 times by hand, the Korean Youtube channel, technology, he found that the redesigned hinge of the folding phone and thinner design could not resist repeated manipulation.
The waterfall, which was broadcast live in a few days, revealed that the phone restarts every 6,000 to 10,000 times. At 46,000 times, the phone has started to cring. At 75,000 times, an unknown black liquid began to escape from the hinge. At 175,000 folds, all the speakers, including the earphone, have stopped working. At the end of the experience, the folding mechanism has become smoother and the ability to maintain its shape at any angle has still worked. The results were downloaded from a Google Doc accessible to the public.
“Although it would have been possible to build a machine to do the folding, we have chosen not to do it,” said Hyeonseo Chae, the host of Tech-IT, who goes through Itchelin, in a press release. “The machines apply a coherent force, which does not reflect how people really use foldable phones in their daily life. To better simulate the conditions of the real world, I decided to fold it entirely by hand.”
It seems that ITHELIN has a point. Samsung announces that the Z Fold 7 can withstand 500,000 times. But it was probably done in a simulated environment.
Samsung did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
Business phones such as Samsung, Apple, Motorola and Google undergo simulated sustainability tests. For folding phones, the machines open and close phones thousands of times to see how they could resist in the real world.
“One thing I learned from this project is that there can be a clear difference between the results of laboratory tests and the results of real world scenarios,” said Itchelin. “I also realized that in any sustainability test, it is important to assess not only the hardware, but also the way in which the internal software behaves over time.”
Given that foldable phones have complex hinges and flexible screens, they are more prone to damage or failure than regular slab style phones. Sustainability, as well as the battery life, is in fact one of the main reasons why some consumers do not jump in the world of the folding phone.
