UK ministers push ahead with discount on bills for households near new pylons | Energy bills

The government pushes their heads with a plan to offer those who live near the new electric pylons a 2,500 £ 2,500 of their energy bills over the next 10 years to mitigate the counterposter compared to its clean electricity plans.

Thousands of households less than half a kilometer from new or improved electrical infrastructure could each receive up to £ 250 on their annual energy bill next year to accelerate the deployment of essential infrastructure to government objectives.

As part of the plan, local populations could receive a £ 125 discount every six months while the United Kingdom is preparing to build twice as much electricity network in the next five years it has built in the last decade.

New airlines, pylons and sub-stations are considered essential to the electoral promise of work to double the terrestrial wind of Great Britain, to triple its solar farms and to quadruple its offshore wind capacity by the end of the decade.

The increase in electricity investment should help the government achieve its objective of creating a zero carbon electricity system by 2030, or five years earlier than the objective of the previous conservative government.

The plans have caused the indignation of communities in the country’s regions which should accommodate the new infrastructure, which will include airlines and pylons along the east coast of England to transport electricity generated from offshore fermertes to the North Sea.

The opposition was entered by Reform UK, who promised to use “all our local powers” to prevent the construction of a new line of air electricity in Lincolnshire.

The government has said that payments would help put the communities “at the heart of a cleaner, more affordable and local energy system”.

The Minister of Energy Consumer Miatta Fahnbulleh said: “This is why we are associated with communities that welcome new pylons to ensure that they receive direct and tangible advantages. We are on the side of those who want Great Britain to return to what it does best: to build for the future, innovate and put communities first. ”

The government has set out its plan to combat resistance to its infrastructure program alongside new rules in order to relieve another source of opposition to its clean electricity plans: smart meter installations.

The regulations, which will come into force compared to next year, will help protect households against abundant installations and defective devices by imposing additional obligations for energy suppliers and improving remuneration for long installation and repair of waiting times.

The deployment of 20 billion sterling pounds of intelligent meters has been rekindled by the delay due to skepticism on their advantages, and the perception that they are likely to take time to install and give false readings once used.

About three -quarters of the houses have an intelligent counter despite the initial objective that all households have one by 2019. The target has been watered down to suggest that all the houses should be offered a smart meter by 2020, but this was then pushed back at the end of 2025.

Charlotte Friel, Director of OFGEM, said that the new rules would establish “clear expectations of suppliers, encouraging them to increase intelligent meter standards and protect consumers from bad services if things go wrong”.

She added: “This is only the beginning – with automatic compensation, faster fixes and improved installation standards on the way, obtaining a smart meter will be faster and easier than ever.”

Martin Lewis, the founder of MoneysaVinkxpert.com, said: “Too many smart meters, probably one in five, do not work as they should – a problem not only for all houses with broken houses, but for the deployment of intelligent meter. With so many unsatisfied customers, mouth mouth is bad, so people tell their friends and neighbors not to have one.

“We must pass the orientation of companies from the installation of intelligent meters to quickly repair those who are broken – not only counters that pass in stupid mode, but especially all the elements, including home screens that stop working. This is the purpose of this plan, and although it adopts a softer approach than what we have proposed, it is an improvement and we will monitor to see if it does not book it.”
