Albany teen arrested in hit-and-run that killed 93-year-old

An Albany man has been charged in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 93-year-old man, authorities said Tuesday.
Kemaury T. Everett, 19, was charged with second-degree manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, the Cohoes Police Department said in a news release.
The incident happened Monday just before 10 a.m. Police responded to the area of Congress and Newark streets after reports of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Responding officers arrived at the scene and located a male victim, identified as 93-year-old Charles Allendorph. He was taken to Albany Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the vehicle had fled the scene, authorities said.
After speaking with witnesses, investigators identified the suspect vehicle and alerted surrounding law enforcement agencies.
Less than one hour later, the Albany Police Department found the vehicle believed to be the one in the crash. The vehicle, which was unoccupied at the time, was seized by Cohoes Police as evidence.
At around 4 p.m., the alleged driver of the car was found in Albany while attempting to report his vehicle stolen.
Everett was arraigned Tuesday morning in Cohoes City Court. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail, online court records show.
The victim, who lived just a few blocks away, was in the neighborhood to visit a relative, Cohoes Police Chief Todd Waldin told the Times Union.
