When Your Brilliant but Humble Columnist Becomes the Originator of the Team B Trump Plan – RedState

It might interest RedState readers to know that I officially hit the US national political scene today, in MAJOR MEDIA!
POLITICO, a mainstream political outlet that I have spent many enjoyable hours denigrating for its constant left-wing, uniformed, error-prone Democratic propaganda, has officially called the paper I co-authored — along with my former boss, former Virginia Attorney General and former Deputy Homeland Security Secretary Ken Cuccinelli — a THE OFFICIAL PLAN B for President Trump and the White House to combat the growing organized violence by antifa and other left-wing terrorist groups, as well as other out-of-control crime problems, that are being thwarted by partisan Democratic officials:
But even though the White House insists the president has a solid legal basis, Trump has made clear he has a plan B: the Insurrection Act, an 1807 law that gives the president emergency powers to deploy troops on U.S. soil to quell what the president considers an insurrection.
The Center for Renewing America published a paper last year on how the Insurrection Act could be used to help secure the border, and the paper strongly suggested it could apply to U.S. cities, he said.
However, since this is a POLITICO report, it is full of inaccuracies. Starting with, of course, that while the specific document addressed the Insurrection Act, that wasn’t actually the main point of the document. In fact, it mainly involved the Posse Comitatus Act, a United States federal law passed in 1878, shortly after the Civil War.
The PCA was passed largely at the behest of racist Southern Democrats who wanted to disenfranchise Southern African Americans and defeat Northern Republicans, and U.S. military brass who were tired of their troops being seized by various officials outside of their unit structure to enforce the law to protect those African Americans from those racist Southern Democrats. Unfortunately, today the sponsorship of the PCA is attributed to much nobler motives: it was done to protect the American people from the military being used to subjugate them, don’t you know! – and has been misinterpreted and misunderstood by the often stupid or simply lazy American justice system and its staff who wish to limit presidential powers to deploy the military to protect America’s borders and enforce its laws.
By the way, this Center article was in turn based on another legal article on the same subject that I had written in law school. At the time, I got a solid B+.
I have discussed PCA several times at RedState. See here and here.
Now, if POLITICO had contacted me, or if I had contacted my much better-known, much more erudite and legal-minded co-lead author, who is currently a prominent talking head at the Center for Renewing America, who commissioned this very article, we might have been able to brief Myah Ward on what he/she (honestly, I don’t know) was reporting on.
Again, it’s POLITICO. Do you follow standard reporting methods? Naaaahhhhh.
Which is not to say that POLITICO itself never grew as a newspaper. While it is true that their 2006 promise to members of the Americans for Tax Reform meeting – to be objective and non-partisan – was even then such an obvious joke that its founders were literally ridiculed, their articles themselves have certainly become better and more thorough over the years. Originally at POLITICO, if you read the headline and the short blurb at the top of the article, it included all of the actual information contained in the entire article. The rest of the item was just excess. Now their articles provide more details and actual reporting despite being biased Democrats and biased leftists.
Regardless, I would like to humbly thank POLITICO and Myah Ward for vaguely noticing something I wrote, somehow describing it without mentioning me by name, and despite their obvious errors on the paper itself, in a national newspaper that focuses on Washington, D.C. politics, and asserting that it is PLAN B for the Trump administration.
And I have complete confidence that they gave the last part of their report 100% accuracy.
I would also like to thank my family, my wife, my parents, my siblings and any other hangers-on who would like to steal some credit for my new fifteen minutes of fame, for their support and encouragement over the years (but not you, your family members who are currently fighting with me over political reasons).
I would also like to thank my law professor, who gave me that B+ in my class at the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University, for all his help with the original article. Unfortunately, he is now a confirmed and vocal Never Trumper and will not be so proud of my work and his own participation in said work with me. Well, it happens.
Never change, POLITICO.
Editor’s note: Schumer’s closure is here. Rather than putting the American people first, Chuck Schumer and radical Democrats forced a government shutdown on health care for illegal immigrants. They own that.
