Google’s Latest Pixel Drop Adds Three Important New Features

Google’s drop of September pixels is there. Although the update is not shipped with a ton of new features, what East New here will be quite obvious. If you have a pixel that can execute Android 16, your phone will appear and act very different. In addition, if you have Pixel Buds Pro 2 or a Pixel watch, there are also new updates to explore.

Google says that these updates take place from today, although they will continue “in the coming weeks”. As such, you might see some of all the features hit your devices today, but don’t be surprised if they take longer to appear.

Expressive equipment 3

In May, Google announced that Material 3 expressive, the latest company design language for Android. Expressive Material 3 has new user interface elements, text styles, bright colors and fresh animations, and although this is not a design overhaul, it is not a particularly subtle update either. It also comes with additional features, such as new iPhone style call cards for Google’s telephone application.

This new design was launched first with the range of Google Pixel 10 phones, so if you bought one, you have already experienced it. However, if you always swing an older pixel, you no longer need to wait to try the expressive equipment. Google announced that the new update was deployed on Pixel 6 and more recent, including the Pixel tablet, from today.

Adaptive audio

If you have a set of Pixel Buds Pro 2, you get a fairly large update later this month. Google will run an adaptive audio, a functionality that analyzes your environment and adjusts audio levels accordingly, to these headphones. Google is not in detail here, but it seems similar to Adaptive Sound, which is available on previous Pixel Buds devices. Google also highlights “strong noise protection”, a feature that “protects” your ears if you meet a strong sound. Again, few details here, but it seems that Pixel Buds Pro 2 will limit the audio levels that cross the buds when something like a siren passes.

Google Maps updates for Pixel Watch

I have the impression that smart watches could be the ideal navigation device. When you are in motion, you don’t really want to watch your phone all the time to see the next turn. Instead, I prefer to take a look at my watch and keep my eyes on my environment.

At this point, the latest drop of Google pixels facilitates navigation with a slightly easier pixel watch. Now you can start walking or cycling on Google Maps on your phone, and your Pixel watch will automatically take navigation. In this way, you can define your course on your pixel, store it and be on your way.
