BOSTON – With Anthony Volpe available on the bench Sunday evening following a cortisone stroke for his partially torn labrum, Aaron Boone was questioned on his plans to move forward at the stop.

But before a question can be filled, Boone intervenes.

“I don’t know,” he said with José Caballero starting to stop for the fifth consecutive game.

Volpe was never to start against the Red Sox this weekend after getting his gunshot on Wednesday, but it should be noted that Boone was not committed to who his short stop goes forward, because he was a fervent supporter of Volpe’s.

“Do what is best every day,” said Boone, adding almost anything else on the subject.

Previously, Boone and Brian Cashman have given Volpe trust throughout his difficulties this season.

The 24 -year -old has an OPS of .661 and an 81 WRC + overall, as well as a .454 OPS in his last 32 games and a .621 OPS since May 3, the day he plunged for a bullet and injured in the shoulder. The 19 Volpe errors were third in the majors who entered Sunday, and its -9 rescuing above the average ranked 22nd among the 23 qualified stops.

Despite these bad figures and a three-year career that has disappointed, in particular on the plate, Cashman said he still considered Volpe as his decourt stop beyond this season.

“I think he is a good player. Obviously, this year, he has a lot of positive capacity,” said the managing director on Friday.

“He had a difficult section, but yes, he is someone on which we can count and we believe. But recognizing at the same time, this is not the season we expected or what he expected, but that does not change our point of view of what he is capable of. I think he is a really talented guy, and I think he has a positive impact on us.

“I think he is always really capable of being a regular quality short shortcut, higher than average in the game, but it’s a difficult game at the same time.”

Caballero, meanwhile, leads the majors of the stolen bases, ranks very short and puts itself at the base with a clip higher than Volpe. Due to Caballero’s versatility and speed, Boone said it was useful to use it outside the bench.

However, if Caballero continues to surpass Volpe, the Yankees can also get it value in the starting range.

“Listen to, Anthony, I consider our curl stop,” said Boone earlier in the week. “But Caballero is a very good player. I am aware of this, and I feel a lot of confidence every time I put him in it. Obviously, he had other opportunities here recently when I sat Anthony, and we are at a time of the year when we are obviously playing for the team every day.”
