‘We Have to Protect the Female Category’ from Trans Athletes

The new president of the International Olympic Committee (CIO) said Thursday that there was “overwhelming support” among the members to protect the female category, in what seems to be a shocking turnaround of the shameless embrace of the organization of the sexes between the sexes.
Kirsty Coventry addressed the subject of transgender identification athletes in female sports at his first official press conference since he became president of the IOC, Fox News reported.
“We understand that there will be differences according to sport … But it was very clear of the members that we must protect the female category, above all to ensure equity,” said Coventry.
“But we must do it with a scientific approach and the inclusion of international federations which have already done a lot of work in this area.”
Coventry said that there was “unanimous support” to agree to modify the policy of transgender athletes of the organization; She said that the IOC could follow in the footsteps of global athletics policy, which prevents transgender identification men from participating in female sports if they had crossed puberty.
“It was very clear of the membership that the discussion around this must be done with medical and scientific research at the heart, so we examine the facts and the nuances and the inclusion of the international federations that have done so much of this work … Having a seat at the table and sharing with us because each sport is different,” she said.
“But it was almost unanimously thought that the IOC should play a leading role by bringing together everyone to try to find a large consensus,” she added.
Coventry said that any new policy would probably not include the modification of the results of past competitions which allowed men of transgender identification. At the Paris Olympic Games in 2024, two boxers notably won gold in female competitions, even if they failed the gender eligibility tests for international competitions.
“We are not going to do anything retrospectively. We will wait impatiently. Members [it] Was: “What do we learn from the past, and how are we going to take advantage of this and advance this to the future?” “Said Coventry.
The announcement comes after the United Nations last year published a study noting that female athletes lost nearly 900 medals because they were beaten by male athletes of transgender identification, according to the report.
The study, called “violence against women and girls in sport”, revealed that more than 600 female athletes have not deserved in more than 400 competitions in 29 different sports because they were beaten by transgender identification men.
“The replacement of the female sports category with a mixed sex category has led to an increasing number of female athletes losing opportunities, including medals, during competition against men,” said the report.
