A law firm has filed suit against Shilo Sanders, claiming he failed to pay more than $164,000 in owed bills, a source with knowledge of the matter confirmed the lawsuit to Fox News Digital.

The lawsuit, filed Monday, claims Sanders owes money for services provided by Barnes & Thornburg while he faced a personal injury lawsuit in 2023, leading him to file for bankruptcy in October.

The firm “provided the legal services and incurred the costs reflected in the invoices between May 1, 2024 and August 26, 2024, based on the agreement,” the lawsuit states, according to USA Today, which first reported the lawsuit.

“Mr. Sanders, however, has failed to pay the amounts corresponding to the invoices presented to him and has not offered payment in response to Plaintiff’s efforts to obtain payment of the unpaid invoices. The total invoices Mr. Sanders currently owes Plaintiff are $164,285.55, including $10,967.91 in interest for services provided and fees incurred.”

The personal injury trial arose when Sanders was accused in 2016 of causing permanent harm to a security guard at Sanders’ high school in Dallas after trying to confiscate Sanders’ phone. He is $11 million in debt after failing to show up for trial, resulting in a default judgment.

Sanders has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy to secure his release, but the security guard is fighting the case.

Sanders’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, did not respond to a request for comment.

Meanwhile, Sanders’ brother, Shedeur Sanders, will make his first NFL start on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.
