Will ‘The Boys’ Season 5 Deliver? 5 Major Things I Can’t Wait to See

The end of The boys is about to begin. Main videoThe wildly popular superhero satire, created by Eric Kripke and inspired by the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darrick Robertson, follows a group of corporate Supes and resistance fighters working tirelessly to eliminate them. Season 5 of the series will end this main story and, judging by the new trailerIt’s going to be an explosive bloodbath.
It’s clear that The Boys fandom is passionate, and many viewers have their own expectations for the new episodes. I am no exception. After that eventful finale of season 4 and the events that occurred Generation V season 2, the hype for the return of the historic series is at an all-time high. Well, for me anyway.
What do I want to happen in the final season of The Boys? So many things. But in an effort to keep this article to a mile in length, I’ve narrowed it down to five epic moments that I can’t wait for. If you’re not aware of The Boys or Gen V, take it easy. There is Major spoilers below.
Ashley’s Big Superpower Revealed
I didn’t expect Ashley (Colby Minifie) to survive and Victoria Neumann (Claudia Doumit) to die, but here we are. Last season, Ashley worked her way up to CEO at Vought. His promotion, however, was short-lived. When Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) – the smartest Supe in the world – entered the picture, Ashley became more of a face for the company, without any real power.
The season 4 finale found Homelander in tears, determined to destroy anyone with incriminating information about him or the company. Ashley fell into this category ever since she learned of Homelander’s secret stash of Compound V. So, as any scrappy person would do, she broke into Homelander’s apartment and injected herself with a vial of blue goo with the motivation of making herself impervious to attacks.
The last time we saw her, Ashley was in severe pain from the drugs. As seen in the trailer for the fifth season, she looks to be in great shape. So, seriously, what power did she get?
Jensen Ackles plays Soldier Boy in The Boys.
Soldier Boy better cut Homelander down to size
Homelander (Antony Starr) will be reunited with his dear old father in season 5. The question, however, is why? Why would he wake up Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) after the damage caused in season three? Perhaps this is to add to Homelander’s power. After all, he is the one who now runs the government.
Or maybe Soldier Boy returns to help Homelander become immortal.
Over the past few seasons, we’ve seen Homelander struggle with aging. But his quest for the first iteration of Compound V – the drug that gave immortality to Thomas Godolkin (Ethan Slater) and Soldier Boy – means his father may have information he absolutely needs.
Then again, it’s already been said that the reason Soldier Boy appears in the new episodes is to kill Billy Butcher (Karl Urban). If you remember, in season 3, the two teamed up to kill Homelander. However, when Soldier Boy turned his attention to Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) – the boy that Butcher and Homelander both consider a son – Billy got in the way and fought back.
This supernatural meeting
It’s been a long time coming, and finally, Sam and Dean Winchester will reunite on screen. Well, not exactly. But you understand. The fact that Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles share a scene – or, if we’re lucky, multiple scenes – pulls at the nostalgic heartstrings of the supernatural. Misha Collins, who played their friend Castiel in the long-running series, will also be in the new season of The Boys.
Details about the characters they play have been kept under wraps, but that sequence in the trailer of Ackles holding Misha by the neck makes me think they won’t get along at all.
Jaz Sinclair stars in season 2 of Gen V on Prime Video.
Gen V heroes go pro
In the second season of Gen V, Marie (Jaz Sinclair) was unknowingly mentored by Godolkin, the divine Supe who started Project Odessa – the secret initiative that created Homelander. By the end of the season, Marie’s blood powers had increased exponentially to the point where she could burst heads. She learned she possessed this skill when she popped Godolkin’s noggin during a battle that required the help of her college friends Emma (Lizze Broadway), Jordan (London Thor), Cate (Maddie Phillips), and Sam (Asa Germann).
The final moments of the season saw them team up with Starlight (Erin Moriarty) and A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), officially joining the resistance against Homelander. Marie’s role in fighting Homelander and his crew is important; she has the same power as Neumann. That means she might be able to burst Homelander’s head. A target will definitely be on his back in the future. But I have to say that it’s pretty cool to see these kids team up with the main heroes of the series.
An epic boss battle against Billy Butcher/Homelander
Throughout the series, The Boys has given us many action-packed battles between Butcher and his team and Homelander and his Seven. We know what it’s like when Butcher and Homelander hold hands. But now that Butcher is on equal footing with his sprawling Supe upgrade, things are set to get even more upsetting in the final season.
There are several loose ends here regarding Butcher’s endgame.
Will Butcher release the Supe killer virus, wiping out all Supes, including himself? If he starts a pandemic, which he said was his plan in season four, will Ryan step in and use his powers to save the world? Regardless of how things play out, The Boys will demolish everything when the series returns in April.
