Liverpool have decided to back their head-coach, which means Salah will likely end-up leaving the club. This was always inevitable because of his age.

It felt unlikely that he would fulfil all his two years left on his contract. Liverpool clearly wanted to cash in on him at some point.

How soon it might have come is a surprise though. At this stage, it’s entirely possible that Salah could be allowed to leave the club in the January window.

That’s going to be disappointing. It means that his last game could be against Brighton, and it is in this game where his replacement could also announce himself.

Looking around the current market, there aren’t many players ready to step into Mo Salah’s shoes. But there is an exciting and promising young talent in Yankuba Minteh.

The Gambian’s speed and directness and his ability to be a facilitator for strikers makes him the ideal profile for Liverpool. He’s exactly who the club should be looking to replace Salah with.

And the 21-year-old can confirm that he is the one to replace Salah with a good performance at Anfield on Saturday, ironically in what could be the Egyptian’s last game.

We’ve seen what a good performance at that hallowed ground can do for players. Sadio Mane, Takumi Minamino and Darwin Nunez all impressed against Liverpool before arriving at the club.

Minteh could be the next one and it also massively helps that he already has a relationship with Slot, having played for him at Feyenoord.

The Brighton star simply ticks every box. He’s someone who could solve Liverpool’s right-wing position for the next decade and he’s about to prove it.
