Over Half of Americans Don’t Trust Trump on Ukraine, Russia War: Poll

More than half of American adults are not convinced that President Donald Trump can make “wise decisions” with regard to the war of Ukraine and Russia, a new investigation by the Pew Research Center shows Thursday.
Nowsweek contacted the White House by email for additional comments.
Why it matters
Friday, the survey results supervise public expectations before a high-level bilateral meeting between Trump and Russian president Vladimir Putin, aimed at discussing a potential ceasefire in Ukraine and wider American-Russia, including Arctic Cooperation.
What to know
The Pew Research Center survey revealed that 59% of American adults were “not too confident” or “not at all confident” that President Trump could make wise decisions concerning the Russian-Ukraine war; 40% expressed at least some confidence. The survey questioned 3,554 American adults between August 4 and August 10 with a margin of error of 1.8%.
The survey also shows key partisan differences: a substantial majority of democrats says that the United States is responsible for helping Ukraine, with 66%, against 35% of Republicans. This number is up 23% in a survey in March.
The public also expressed his opinions on assistance in the United States: Pew noted that 29% said that the United States did not provide enough support for Ukraine, and 18% said that it was too much supplied, while 50% of Americans said the United States had the responsibility to help Ukraine defend itself, and 47% said it was not the case.

What people say
The Colorado Democratic Representative Jason Crow on X this week: “Everyone wants Russia to stop its assault and for the end of the war in Ukraine. But Trump continues to hand over Vladimir Putin’s victories. Meeting in the United States, without Ukraine at the table, is exactly what a dictator like Putin wants.”
Trump we socially social Wednesday: “The very unfair media are at work on my meeting with Putin. Constantly quoting dismissed losers and truly stupid people like John Bolton, who has just said that, even if the meeting is on American soil,” Putin has already won “. What are we gaining in everything.
The president continued: “If I am free in Moscow and Leningrad, as part of the agreement with Russia, the false news would say that I have a bad deal! But now, they have been taken. Look at all the real news that comes out of their corruption. These are sick and dishonest people, who probably hate our country. But that does not matter because we are gaining everything !!!
What happens next
Trump and Putin are expected to meet on Friday at Elmendorf-Richardson base in Anchorage.
Observers have declared that the result could influence American relations with the Allies, kyiv’s negotiation position and the appetite of the Congress for future assistance in Ukraine.
