Winter storm watch issued for northeast Georgia counties

A winter storm watch has been issued for several northern Georgia counties.
Monitoring is in effect Friday evening through Sunday morning in the following counties in the Channel 2 Action News broadcast area: Banks, Clarke, Greene, Habersham, Hall, Jackson, Lumpkin, Madison, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Rabun, Towns, Union and White.
The Severe Weather 2 team will have the latest forecast data, LIVE on Channel 2 Action News this morning starting at 4:30am.
The watch also covers northeastern counties along the Georgia-South Carolina border, including Elbert, Franklin, Hart and Stephens.

A winter storm watch means conditions are favorable for a significant winter storm. A winter storm watch is typically used 12 to 48 hours before winter precipitation begins.
