Journalist Dissects How Democrats Are Playing Games With Epstein Files To Smear Trump

Independent journalist Michael Tracey accused congressional Democrats of taking emails from records related to registered sex offender Jeffrey Epstein out of context to portray President Donald Trump as complicit in Epstein’s activities.
House Democrats released emails from Epstein on Wednesday in which he claimed Trump knew about his conduct, the same day the House Oversight Committee released 20,000 pages of documents regarding the disgraced financier, who committed suicide in his Manhattan jail cell while awaiting trial following his 2019 arrest. Tracey said on her podcast that Democrats on the committee were removing “inflammatory” material, like a book of birthday wishes to Epstein that includes a bawdy letter. allegedly written by Trump. “So people aren’t aware. I mean, I see people referring to this as leaked emails or like somehow the Epstein files were heroically discovered,” Tracey said. “No, the House Oversight Committee is currently controlled by the Republicans. Okay. James Comer, he’s the chairman of the House Oversight Committee. I’ve talked to him…they’ve subpoenaed various entities and individuals to do this kind of renewed investigation into Epstein, which of course they have to do, right? Um, and…that’s fine with me. Get all the information out.”

Trump learned in May that his name was among numerous files linked to Epstein, who pleaded guilty to sex charges in 2008, the BBC reported. A discharge petition for a resolution calling on the Trump administration to release Epstein-related files reached the threshold needed to force a vote in the House of Representatives on Wednesday when Arizona Democratic Rep. Adelita Grijalva signed immediately after being sworn in.
“And they did the same thing with that, which was they took out these three decontextualized emails of like 20,000, which I looked through some of them and okay, they’re pretty interesting like I’m interested in the story,” Tracey said. “So, yes, I want to read them, I want to read them to, for the people.”
“So the Democrats are strategically isolating or presenting or sort of amplifying these Trump-related clips and then what the Republicans are doing, and I think it’s actually much more commendable, which is immediately afterward, to counter the Democrats, they publish everything,” Tracey added. “But…the average news consumer is none the wiser.”
Emails from Michael Wolff allegedly advised Epstein on how to blackmail Trump to derail his 2016 presidential campaign.
Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s most prominent victims, did not accuse Trump of misconduct in her posthumous memoir published Oct. 21, about six months after his suicide. Giuffre’s ghostwriter told “People” that she was a big fan of Trump.
Epstein’s victims told NBC News reporter Hallie Jackson during a Sept. 3 panel that they had no knowledge of any wrongdoing by Trump. The lawyer who represented some of Epstein’s victims, Bradley Edwards, described Trump as someone who helped him in his efforts in a 2018 video.
“The one thing I can say about President Trump is that he’s the only person who, in 2009, when I served a lot of subpoenas against a lot of people… he’s the only person who picked up the phone and said, ‘let’s talk, I’m going to give you as much time as you want, I’m going to tell you what you need to know,'” Edwards said in 2018. video. “And [Trump] “He was very helpful in the information he provided and gave no indication that he was involved in anything untoward,” Edwards continued.
Epstein had close ties to celebrities, politicians and executives, even after being convicted as a sex offender. Among those known to be close were L Brands founder Lex Wexner, director Woody Allen and Prince Andrew.
