X School for Boys Teaches Character, Skills That Build the Men Who Will Build America – RedState

The comments on last week’s Feel-Good Friday were interesting to say the least. While some contained many great stories and information about how their community reaches out to those experiencing tragedy, lack, or simply gaps in their lives, there was also a lot of put-downs. Everyone has a particular reaction to people’s stories of difficulty and hardship, but not all of them are positive or helpful.
If you don’t understand, here’s the bottom line: It’s a wonderful thing when individuals, churches and local the community helps those in need. Complete stop. Despite everyone’s best efforts, things happen. My family has had times when tragic things have happened, most of them not of our choice or will. Without the support of individuals, our church, family, close friends, and colleagues in countless ways, we would not be here today. Many people are legitimately in need, stuck in a cycle, and need a helping hand. These people also appreciate when this help is provided to them, and even more when they are given an opportunity that allows them to help themselves.
Unfortunately, the more government gets involved, the more issues and problems are exacerbated rather than resolved. We see this happening with this shutdown debacle. Government is the problem, and rarely the solution.
But what’s happening in our country is also a reflection of the younger generation, so focused on what the government and others can do for them rather than what they can do for themselves. I talk to my Gen It’s TEACHED, instead of caught. I think a lot of my friends expected that because they exemplified a work ethic and self-reliance to their children that their children would automatically get it. Some do, but unfortunately this has not been the case everywhere. Coupled with a public school system, social groups, and even churches that prefer to promote victimhood, anger, and addiction, you get the people who voted in the trainwreck of New York City’s mayor-elect.
But it’s a feel-good message, and here it is: A young Gen Z man from Albany, Georgia, chooses to be the exception, and he’s the subject of this week’s Feel-Good Friday.
Hats off to my lovely colleague and editor, Stacey Matthews, aka Sister Toldjah, for abandoning this idea.
This quote is attributed to Frederick Douglass: “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” » Whether Douglass said it or not, it is a statement of truth. We see the result of broken men manifest in every bad government policy imposed on us. Policies which, as we see in real time, collapse as soon as parties change and we run out of people to tax.
That’s why community members who strive to improve their cities and neighborhoods by building strong children should be highlighted and honored. King Randall is one such champion. Its X School for Boys makes a huge difference to everyone’s lives, especially the boys who attend the school.
Kira Davis, our friend and former editor here at RedState, wrote about King Randall and the
What an idea.
Randall is the founder and director of the X School For Boys, a nonprofit mentoring program based in Albany, Georgia. King founded the program after looking around and seeing too many young men, many without fathers, with nothing to do and without a good place to go to find purpose and value. He didn’t see anyone around him providing him with advice, so he rolled up his sleeves and started X School For Boys.

Shortly after Randall started school, he clashed with celebrity chaser and racing scammer Roland Martin.

Martin loses relevance and Randall continues to stay true to his purpose and principles. In 2023, a severely deformed individual decided he didn’t like what Randall was doing and vandalized his facilities, causing thousands in damage.
Here’s a real look at some of the damage to our school. I understand the hatred and dislike for the job, but I was really upset when I came back.

But Randall persevered and remained focused on building men so they could build the lives they desire. In 2025, the X School continues to grow and do incredible things for Albany and ultimately the nation. Randall teaches these children that they are the heroes of their story. No one is going to come and save them, and if they learn right, plan right, and build right, using the skills taught and the talents God has given them to succeed, they can and will go far.

While others reject negativity, we continue to teach, build, and lead.

Even though the main school is focused on boys, Randall believes it is important to teach the entire community. Someone in her Albany community asked Randall to teach young women some basic vehicle maintenance, since triple-A is neither affordable nor reliable.

Randall always represents faith, family and America. And what could be more American than teaching others independence, self-sufficiency, and determination? I love the smile on this young boy’s face as he prays during lunch. Learn more, please.
Before lunch, one of our boys decided he wanted to lead prayer. 🙏🏾
We teach skills and trades, but moments like this remind us of what really matters: faith, gratitude, and character.

Like Hillsdale College, Randall does not receive any government funding or grants. The school is supported by donors and powered by the community. A person with severe TDS offered Randall $20,000, but only if he renounces anything related to President Donald Trump or MAGA.
Here is Randall’s response.

He wanted to give us $20,000 if I “disassociated myself from MAGA.”
The videos are just our boys learning about trades, faith and discipline.
So why does teaching about God, family, and hard work automatically seem political to some? 🤔

While some people demand that the government or a political or social movement give them things to change their lives and circumstances, King Randall shows a different path. The one that most of us knew when we were children, and which must once again become the rule rather than the exception.

Editor’s Note: Schumer’s closure is here. Rather than putting the American people first, Chuck Schumer and radical Democrats forced a government shutdown on health care for illegal immigrants. They own that.
