Wonders Will Never Cease — Federal Judge Declines to Block Trump Ballroom Construction – RedState

As a former businessman, I’m pretty good at coding, so I created a macro that automatically types: “Federal judge issues restraining order against Trump’s plan to… [fill in the blank.]»

Okay, I’m exaggerating, but I could have — I feel like not a day goes by without some lawyer coming in and, as RedState’s Bonchie likes to say, “jumping off the top rope” to take down a Trump initiative. So it was quite surprising to learn Tuesday evening that a federal judge in Washington, D.C. denied to block construction of the Trump Ballroom, despite a lawsuit filed by an activist group, the National Trust for Historic Preservation. They said the administration began work before the plans were submitted to the National Capital Planning Commission and did so without consulting Congress.

That hasn’t been enough to move George W. Bush-appointed U.S. District Judge Richard Leon, at least for now:

A federal judge on Tuesday rejected environmental advocates’ request to halt President Donald Trump’s $300 million ballroom project at the White House, concluding that allowing underground construction to continue in the coming weeks would likely not produce irreparable harm to those who oppose the project.

U.S. District Judge Richard Leon denied the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s request for a temporary restraining order, but said he would hear arguments early next year on whether to issue a longer-term preliminary injunction against the project.

Attorney General Pam Bondi celebrated the victory, even though there are more battles to come in this case:

We will continue to defend the President’s plan in court in the weeks to come.

LEARN MORE: Yes, it’s actually real – Leftists are stopping Trump from washing Eisenhower’s villainous leader from power. Office building.

As I mentioned, the battle is not over and the administration will need to provide updates to the judge in a timely manner:

The Trump administration told U.S. District Judge Richard Leon on Tuesday that over the “next two weeks” it plans to meet with the National Capital Planning Commission and the Commission of Fine Arts to review plans that Justice Department attorney Adam Gustafson said were not yet finalized.

Tad Heuer, the National Trust’s attorney, joked that with this administration, “It’s still going to happen in the next two weeks.”

“The court will force them to do so,” the judge replied. “They have until the end of this month.”

The left acts as if Trump is the first president to think about modernizing and renovating the White House, but that is not the case:

Now Trump and private donors are paying to make it happen.

It has been pathetic to watch leftists and Democrats complain about the cost of Trump’s massive ballroom — even though it is entirely privately funded — even as Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota was asleep at the wheel when hundreds of millions of dollars were embezzled from federally funded and state-run nutrition programs. California Governor Gavin Newsom, meanwhile, criticizes the ballroom project in his endless nasty tweets, but he himself doesn’t know or want to reveal how much a massive state capitol project is costing taxpayers, even if it’s built right next to his office.

Legal proceedings regarding the big project will continue, but it was nice, at least one day, to write that a federal judge actually turned down an opportunity to derail the duly elected president’s agenda. As my grandmother might have said: “The wonders will never end.”

Editor’s note: President Trump is leading America toward the “Gilded Age” while Democrats are desperately trying to stop him.
