You can catch Deoxys, Ho-Oh, and Lugia in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen for Switch and Switch 2 — but what about Mew?

It is undeniable that the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions of Pokémon Fire Red And LeafGreen sparked controversy from fans. Some thought the games should have been available through the Nintendo Switch Online+ expansion pack. Some felt that they had been marketed at a slightly high price. And some lamented the omission of Wi-Fi functionality.
But there’s one thing that all Pokémon fans must surely appreciate about these re-released classics: the inclusion of event tickets. That’s right, once you defeat the Champion in Fire Red And LeafGreenyou will receive the Mystic Ticket and the Aurora Ticket. The first allows you to catch the Pokémon Gold And Money cover stars, Ho-Oh and Lugia, while the latter is bound to catch Deoxys.
I had a great time collecting these legendary and mythical Pokémon, but in my quest to complete the Pokédex, I decided to seek out another one, known above all for being elusive. The one I’m talking about, of course, is Mew.

So can you catch Mew in Pokémon Fire Red And LeafGreen on Switch and Switch 2? Here’s everything you need to know.
A glimpse of the future?
OK, so let’s start by fixing something. No matter what you try, you won’t be able to find Mew near the truck in Vermilion City. That would have been cool, but oh well.
But is there another way to catch Mew Pokémon Fire Red And LeafGreen? Unfortunately no. At least, not yet – although I have a lot of hope for the future. Here’s what I have in mind.
I’ll start by saying this: I really feel like we could get Pokémon Ruby, SapphireAnd Emerald on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 in the not too distant future.
For what? Well, first of all, when you play the post-game, you help rebuild a machine for Celio on the Sevii Isles – a machine that allows you to trade Hoenn titles: Ruby, Sapphire, And Emerald. Additionally, it is currently impossible to complete your National Dex on the Switch and Switch 2 versions of Pokémon Fire Red And LeafGreen – largely due to the player’s inability to transfer mons from these other Gen 3 titles.
As a result, it would make perfect sense for Nintendo to re-release entries like Pokémon Emerald – a game that actually had a special event for Mew on the Game Boy Advance. Through a distribution, it was possible for players to obtain the Old Sea Map, an item that would grant access to a place called Faraway Island. Here you can meet the floating psychic creature, Mew, and catch him once and for all.
Of course, this was a special event – and the Old Sea Map was only distributed in Japan and Taiwan in 2005. But we did get these special event items for Deoxys, Ho-Oh and Lugia in the Switch and Switch 2 versions of Fire Red And LeafGreen. And so you hope that we will also get the old sea map after defeating Pokémon Emerald‘s Champion too – in case of reissue, of course.
If we were get Pokémon Emerald On next-gen systems, one would expect players to have the option to trade Mew for Fire Red And LeafGreen via Celio’s machine. Am I getting my hopes up too much here? Maybe. But I really want to add Mew to my ‘dex!
Could you see this happening? Do you expect to see Hoenn games coming to Switch and Switch 2? I’d love to hear your feedback, so be sure to leave a comment.
