You can now create AI-generated coloring books in Microsoft Paint

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently said that AI still needs to prove itself if the company wants to embrace it long-term, but he probably thinks his company has managed to solve the problem with its latest innovation: AI coloring books.
A new Microsoft Paint feature currently rolling out to Windows Insiders lets you generate coloring book pages based on the text prompt you type. The example Microsoft uses is “a cute fluffy cat on a donut,” to which the AI tool will spit out a slightly different set of options depending on your prompt.
You can then choose the image you want, add it to your current workspace, copy it or save it. Presumably, you can also print it for the purpose of entertaining your children. This is undoubtedly the kind of real-world impact the Microsoft chief was referring to.
The coloring book feature is exclusive to Copilot+ PCs, and Microsoft is also adding a fill tolerance slider that lets you adjust how precisely the fill tool adds color to your canvas.
In addition to Paint’s new coloring book feature, Microsoft has also improved its AI Write, Rewrite, and Summarize feature in , which integrates with GPT to refine your writing and summarize complex notes. You’ll need to sign in to your Microsoft account to use the cloud features, but results will now appear faster and allow you to interact with the preview without having to wait for it to fully respond. Again, you will need to be a Windows Insider in the Canary and Dev channels on Windows 11 to initially take advantage of the updates.
