Transcript: Trump Epstein Scandal Takes Damning Turn as Dem Drops Bomb

So yes, whistleblowers could play an important role. Do I think we’re going to see these files in the short term? I don’t think we’ll see them until the midterm elections. Do I think we’ll ever see them? Yes.
But it seems so crazy to me that over the last few weeks it has become clear that England is “outdoing” us when it comes to the Epstein files. They have even initiated criminal proceedings against former members of the monarchy. And we live in a world in which the president blocks the release of legally mandated records that could implicate him in criminal acts. And our legal system is so messed up that it’s not clear what the solution to this problem is.
Sergeant: Yeah, I mean, that’s the main thing for me too. In other places, people are held accountable here; no one is held responsible.
Litman: Yes, exactly. And I don’t want to resign ourselves to that inevitability, but we should recognize that the responsibility here, realistically, requires taking control of the House and probably the White House as well.
Sergeant: Which, of course, is a doable thing, although it probably shouldn’t come down to that.
Litman: No, and that’s why we should continue to insist on it, right? Because people care that the president is now accused of sexual assault. People also care that he is using the DOJ to cover up his alleged crimes. And so, in that way – whether it’s whistleblowers or public opinion or public outcry – these things matter, even if we can’t go to court to fix it tomorrow.
Sergeant: We say it all the time on the pod, but if you needed another reason to elect Democrats to control the House, you see it right now.
Friends, if you enjoyed this, be sure to check out Leah’s book on the Supreme Court, which is just as ruthless as what she just said here. It’s called Lawless. Leah, it’s always a pleasure talking to you. Thanks for coming.
Litman: Thank you for inviting me.
