100K Students To Benefit In Major Settlement Agreement With Parents Over COVID Learning Loss

The Los Angeles Unified School District (Lausd) settled a collective appeal on Wednesday with the parents on the learning suffered by the students during the COVVI-19 locking.
The trial, tabled by several parents of Lausd children in 2020, alleged that the district learning model had not properly educated the children and left them years behind their peers. Lausd has agreed to provide more than 100,000 students who have been the most affected by the loss of learning capped, such as those who test below the benchmarks by a complete or more level, with a minimum of 45 hours of tutorial per year.
The district will also offer additional academic support and summer school options as well as additional annual training, according to the regulations, which has not yet been approved by the Court.
Lausd did not respond to the request for comments from the Daily Call News Foundation.

Students across the country were greatly affected by the closing of schools during the codvised locking, the 2024 data proving disastrous results. Less than a third of students from the fourth and eight of the fourth and eight years are competent in reading, and less than half of the students of the two notes meet marks in mathematics, according to the country’s bulletin. In the unified school district of Los Angeles in particular, only 43% of students proved reading competence in 2024, and only 32.8% marked competent in mathematics. During the 2020-2021 school year, Lausd represented around 550,000 students.
The initial trial allegedly alleged that Lausd teachers during COVID have often not provided children’s instructions beyond the verification of students who have returned their work. Several parents have also complained of not being able to connect to the online platform.
