YouTube TV and NBC Extend Negotiations Past Deadline

Last month was Fox. This month is NBC. YouTube TV and NBCUNIVERSAL are in contractual dispute on transport costs. The two parties have reached a “short-term extension” which will keep the NBC channels on YouTube TV while the negotiations continue beyond the previous deadline of September 30. If a contract is not achieved, Nbcuniversal has threatened to withdraw its programming from the streaming service belonging to Google.
With the football seasons of the NFL and the booming college and the new NBA season from three weeks, sports fans could miss big games this month, notably Sunday evening football of the NFL and Notre-Dame football on NBC, as well as the English Premier League football on NBC and USA. And then there is the not so small question of the NBA which returns to NBC for the first time in almost a quarter of a century. The new NBA season begins on October 21.
For non -sporting programming, the most notable NBC show on the horizon is the first of the 51st season of Saturday Night Live this Saturday, October 4.

Google and NBCU argument
It is essentially the same story each time for one of these disputes. Nbcuniversal says that Google is not willing to pay it enough to transport its channels, and Google says that the prices that Nbcuniversal wishes will result in what it invoices for YouTube TV, which is currently $ 83 per month.
On his YouTube TV blog, Google said: “NBCUNIVERIVERSALS asks us to pay more than what they charge for consumers for the same content on Peacock, which would mean less flexibility and higher prices for our subscribers.”
Meanwhile, Nbcuniversal has published a statement, claiming that Google “refused the best prices and terms on the market, demanding preferential treatment and seeking an unfair advantage over competitors to dominate the video market – all under the false claim to fight for the consumer. The result: YouTube TV to customers
In the dispute of last month, an agreement was concluded before all the Fox channels were taken from Youtube TV.
In another dispute in terms of transport, YouTube TV could not conclude an agreement with Televisauvision and pulled chains in Spanish which include Univision, Unimás, Galavisión and Tudn from its service last night. At the center of this dispute is the desire for YouTube TV to move univision of the basic pack of $ 83 per month at the Hispanic package of $ 15 per month.
Alternative streaming
If Nbcuniversal draws its channels, Google will offer YouTube television subscribers a $ 10 credit. If that is not enough to make you look at YouTube TV via the dispute, you can use this credit to register for Peacock for $ 11 per month to continue to watch NBC content.
For NFL fans looking for a substitute, a combo with two streams for $ 67 per month will allow you to watch almost all games the rest of the season. This fubo sports-peacock duo also works well to watch other sports, including university football and the next NBA season (but not the MLB qualifiers, a large part of which is broadcast on TBS, which Fubo does not offer).
