Google Pixel Phone Alarms Keep Breaking

Summary
- Pixel phones are facing recurring alarm clock bugs.
- Users are receiving random “Missed alarm: Alarm did not fire due to an unknown reason” notifications with no solution.
- We reported on a similar problem earlier this year, but now it’s back and worse than ever.
Do you have one of Google’s Pixel phones that somehow keeps missing the alarms you set? If so, you’re not alone. It looks like the famous Pixel alarm bug is back and causing all sorts of problems for owners.
The alarm clock app is one of a smartphone’s most basic yet essential features. Millions of people use it to wake up for school, work, and more, and it should always operate as expected, considering it’s just a clock. Unfortunately, that’s not the case for many Pixel owners.
Earlier this year, the Google Pixel March feature drop broke the alarm app for a bunch of people, and it’s happening again. As reported by Android Police, users all over Reddit have started to complain about a new type of alarm clock bug where it fails to go off due to an unknown reason.
As you can see from the screenshot above, a user on Reddit said his Pixel 9 alarm didn’t go off, and it’s not the first time. However, instead of simply failing to alert them as expected, the user received a notification stating, “Missed alarm: Alarm did not fire due to an unknown reason.” And apparently, they’re not the only ones.
Multiple Pixel owners chimed in, reporting similar issues, with one saying they’ve already contacted Google about the problem without luck. Apparently, Google has been unable to replicate the problem, so they’re not currently working on a fix. So while this may not be widespread, it’s certainly happening to multiple users, with some stating it’s an ongoing occurrence.

Google Might Be About to Fix the Pixel’s Biggest Problem for Good
After years of running hot and falling short, Pixel might finally get it right.
To make matters worse, this isn’t happening to Pixel owners running the Android 16 QPR beta, which could explain the situation. Instead, it’s on the official stable version of Android for their devices. That said, there’s a chance some third-party app could be interfering with Google’s clock app, but we can’t say for sure.
While this isn’t a widespread problem, it’s unfortunately not a new one, either. We found similar complaints from multiple owners with the same error message dating back to 2024. One owner said it started happening on his Pixel 5 several years ago.
For what it’s worth, some users state that a solution is to ensure you have a fully charged phone or disable any battery-saving modes while you’re sleeping, as it could be to blame. The phone running in a low-power state could cause the alarm app to fail. And while that’s not ideal, it’s better than missing an alarm and being late for work. We’ll report back once we learn more.
