Updated [10:30 p.m. EDT]:: There is now an update with more details on the injured, from the hospital that treats them:

At least 11 people were treated for injuries to the Munson Medical Center at Cross -City, said Megan Brown, director of communications at Munson Healthcare, who heads the Munson Medical Center. Six people were in critical condition and five people were in serious condition at 9 p.m., she said.

The hospital was still evaluating injuries of the victims, said Brown. She did not describe the nature of the injuries.

Updated [9:10 p.m. EDT]:: During a press conference in the evening, Michigan authorities gave more information on City Traverse attacks, Mi ,:

A man who has not been publicly identified, a 42 -year -old Michigan resident was in detention, said officials. A reason for the attack was not immediately known.

The man used a “standard folding style knife” during the attack, said Sheriff Michael D. Shea on Saturday evening of the County of Grand Traverse during a press conference. He acted alone, said Sheriff Shea.

“Citizens’ participation” ended the attack, said Sheriff Shea, refusing to develop.

The attack started around 4:45 p.m. in the store’s cash area and the striker was held less than three minutes after the police arrived, the Sheriff Shea said.

Here are the latest details on the victims:

The victims understood six men and five women, he said. Three people suffered surgery, he said. He did not know the status of other victims.

“Based on the information we have for the moment it was a random act,” he said. “The victims were not predetermined.”





A buyer, Julia Martell, 30, said that she had first read the attacks after hearing screaming, then “saw a man with a knife crossing the store’s pharmacy area”.
