Angel Reese sorry for putting down Sky team-mates after comments kick up controversy | Chicago Sky

Angel Reese broadcast his frustrations with the Chicago sky while the franchise ends another losing season.
The WNBA All-Star twice told Chicago Tribune that it “might have to move in a different direction and do what was best for me” if the team does not improve its prospects.
“I am very explained about what we need and what I want,” she said. “I would like to be here for my career, but if things are not going on, I should obviously move in a different direction and do what is best for me. But even if I am here, I will try to stay open -minded about what I have here and maximize this as much as possible. ”
Chicago improved at 10-30 after leaving Connecticut on Wednesday evening. Reese had 18 points and 13 rebounds. The franchise has been 3 to 15 from the stars break, but Reese has missed many of these games with a back problem.
“I am not satisfied with the same thing … We have done this this year,” the young star told the newspaper. “We need to get good players. We need to get great players. It is a non -negotiable for me. I’m ready and I want to play with the best. And yet, I can help get the best here, that’s what I’m going to do this off -season.
“So it will be very, very important this offseason to make sure to attract the best of the best because we cannot be satisfied with what we have this year.”
Reese, which was the n ° 7 choice in the WNBA draft last season, has an average of 14.6 points and a record of 12.6 record in the league. She has at least one more season on her recruit contract.
Reese resumed her comments after Wednesday evening’s victory and said she had already apologized to the team.
“I’m probably frustrated by myself at the moment,” she said. “I think that the language was out of its context and I really did not want to intentionally deposit my teammates because they crossed this with me throughout the year.”
Reese said she had to learn from the situation.
“I just have to be better with my language because I know that it is not the message that it is the messenger and understand what I say maybe any kind, so I really have to be better and grow from it,” she said.
Reese told the newspaper that she wanted coach Tyler Marsh to train harder players and did not think that the team’s current list was good enough to win championships. She was also called the injured leader Courtney Vandersloot, who is sidelined with an LCA injury. Vandersloot was a large part of the franchise championship in 2021 alone.
“We cannot count on Courtney to return to the age when she is,” said Reese. “I know that she will be an excellent asset for us, but we cannot count on this. We need someone probably a little younger with some experience, someone who has played the game and is ready to compete for a championship and has already done so.”
