6G Wireless Will Use Aerial Base Stations
The future of wireless communication is sketched today in the sky and in space. A new generation of intelligent aerospace platforms – drones, airships and satellites – will be one of the 6G networks of tomorrow, acting as, in fact, basic stations in the sky. They should be deployed in the early 2030s.
Researchers at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (Kaust) in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia, are in the middle of the avant-garde of innovators now imagining new generation telecommunications networks in the atmosphere, the stratosphere and the orbit.
The sky will not be the limit of new generation wireless platforms
Future wireless platforms will adopt a layer approach, from low altitude drones to geosynchronous satellites.
