Conkel's hat trick leads to 1st career RSC Offensive POW honors

OXFORD — Behind the first trio of goals in her Shawnee State career that resulted in the Minford native’s first career hat trick, SSU freshman forward Lexi Conkel was named the River States Conference Offensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday afternoon.
Conkel, a prolific high school scorer and the all-time leading scorer in Scioto County history with 147, scored the first three goals of her college career in quick succession Saturday, getting her first career hat trick in an 8-0 victory over Kentucky Christian.
Conkel scored in the 18th minute and twice in 25 seconds in the 20th minute to get his hat trick.
The rookie, who started the contest, hit five shots and all of his attempts on target in 45 minutes of action – before sitting the entire second half as SSU gained additional player court time.
