Berks Catholic defended its District 3 Class 4A boys basketball title Friday night as All-State guard Kingston McKoy scored 35 points, but it wasn’t easy.

The Saints (25-2) defeated Bishop McDevitt 58-52 in overtime at Garden Spot High School in the championship game.

Last year, the Saints beat Eastern York 67-44 in the title game before making it all the way to the PIAA championship game and losing to Devon Prep.

Berks Catholic, this season’s BCIAA champion, will begin its quest for a state title on Friday, March 6 against District 12 fifth-ranked Philadelphia.

McKoy had six points in overtime, as the Saints outscored McDevitt 8-2.

He made four 3-pointers in the game and made 15 of 18 from the foul line, including 9 of 10 in the fourth quarter.

Bishop McDevitt (21-4) will face the third-place team from District 4 in the first round of the state playoffs.
