Google now allows you to set expiration dates on shared files and folders in Google Drive, Digital Trends reports. The feature applies to both shared drives and “My Drive,” where users can grant temporary access to a file or folder that is automatically revoked after a certain date.
This also means that temporary editing rights in “My Drive” no longer disappear completely when the period expires. Instead, it will revert to the base permission applicable to the folder (usually in view mode).
Expiration dates can be set directly in the usual sharing menu on the web and in the Drive app on Android. Currently iOS is not supported. The feature is currently being gradually rolled out to users.
