Tish Hyman Confronts Lawmaker Over Trans Harassment in Gym Locker Room
Singer-songwriter Tish Hyman clashed with far-left California state Sen. Scott Wiener after a man who identifies as a woman harassed her in a locker room at Gold’s Gym.
Los Angeles-based Hyman, who is also a lesbian, was recently banned from her gym after reporting a man entering the women’s locker room.
“Stay out of the women’s locker room. We don’t want it!” Hyman told the man in footage that went viral.
Hyman also shared a video of the incident on her Instagram, writing in the caption that she and other women made several complaints to gym staff about the man entering their locker room.
“Several women and I have repeatedly made written reports about this man for coming into our women’s locker room and harassing us, and the gym staff did absolutely nothing!!” she wrote. “He disrespected me several times, and I was only ignored when I quietly reported it. But today, I made some noise!!”
Reports later surfaced that the man, Alexis Black, had been accused of brutally beating his ex-wife before taking her name while transitioning.
Hyman confronted Scott Wiener, who is currently running for former Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) empty seat, in a town hall-style meeting about the incident.
“As a lesbian woman who was assaulted this week in the women’s locker room at Gold’s Gym by a trans woman who identifies with a documented history of domestic violence, I am deeply concerned about the safety of women in women’s spaces,” Hyman told Wiener during the meeting.
“What would you say to women who are looking for assurance that their safety will be protected from men, who under California law can identify as women in women’s only spaces. Sir, please tell me,” she added.
Wiener returned to the standard talking points of radical transgender ideology.
“We want everyone to be safe. And we also know that we have trans people, men and women, who are men and women,” he responded.
“Trans women are therefore women,” he added.
Hyman refused to back down.
“I tell you now, millions of women across America are being sexually harassed and assaulted in locker rooms. I’m a lesbian black woman, I’m not transphobic, I’m not homophobic…but I see that a lot of these bills that you’ve passed are dangerous for women and young children,” she said.
Although Wiener apologized for Hyman’s attack, he refused to accept that allowing men into women’s locker rooms was harmful to women.
“It’s obviously incredibly important, and I also know that trans women are also brutalized in this country, so we need to protect women’s safety,” he said.
Hyman headed towards the exit.
“I’m not going to accept it… you’re not protecting women,” she said.
