Gun Jams as Suspect Allegedly Tries to Shoot Cop Point Blank

A shoplifting suspect in Canton, Ohio, allegedly tried to shoot a police officer point-blank Thursday, but his gun jammed.
FOX News reported that the suspect was taken to a security room at the local Walmart and security footage showed him pulling a gun and trying to shoot a police officer.
FOX 8 noted that the officer had just asked the suspected thief, 21-year-old Shane Newman, “Do you have anything on you that I need to know? Why do you have your hand in your pocket?”
The verbal exchange between Newman and the officer continued, with Newman becoming nervous when the officer asked for his Social Security number. Newman then allegedly turned around, pulled a gun out of the bag he was carrying and attempted to shoot the officer. However, the gun jammed.
A “Walmart security employee” then intervened, removing Newman’s gun before the officer could be targeted again.
It turns out that Newman had a warrant for his arrest that described him as “armed and dangerous.”
