The judge agreed to refuse provisional release.

The incident allegedly happened in August at Dhillon’s former home in Hanover Park.

Police responded to a call and found the 4-year-old dog, named Ace, dead in the garage.

Further investigation and testing led to the arrest and charges against Dhillon this week.

Dhillon was previously on pretrial release in DuPage County on domestic battery, aggravated battery on a peace officer and assault charges, the DuPage County state’s attorney said.

“These allegations are simply unconscionable and will be punished with the full force of the law. This is a heartbreaking case for everyone involved, especially the children,” said DuPage County Prosecutor Robert Berlin.

Dhillon will be back in court next month.
